BLUE PENCIL

verb
edit or make cuts in (a manuscript, film, or other work)
"holding up each paragraph for preliminary blue-penciling"

We foremost and primarily want to say that this invitation exists because we admire your work and are curious about your relationship with what you do professionally/creatively.

Working in a landscape where the rules are always shifting and the standard for work is relatively undifined creates the opportunity to create and define the rules of what art/design/craft looks like.
This looks like wide reaching community and creative movement across all mediums.
In that thought space, we believe you are speaking your own visual language fluently and in a unique way, and it’s important to connect people saying the same thing in different mediums, similar things, or their own visual language with a comparable level of fluency.

The connective tissue is that your work shares a likeness of beauty, curiosity, and honesty. A new generational perspective emerging from the uncertainty of this era will dictate the types of visuals and meanings that will start to be desired by audiances, and we think you all have the ability to guide and mold that and want to create the room for that discussion to start.

The goal of the night is exclusively for the purpose of connecting, discussing, and meeting.

The conference will span 3 studio spaces on the 3rd floor of the building, 312, 313, 303. Please be mindful of the building neighbors as you interact in common areas between the studios.

If you won’t be in LA at the time or otherwise not able to be there, we understand and would still love to connect with you on what feelings you’ve been having about your work and how it relates to the world around you.

Parking may be limited.

Lastly, we welcome and encourage you to bring a +1. We curated the selection of invitees with an emphasis on conceptualization and curation, and we trust your perspective. Who do you know that would contribute unique thoughts on art, design, decoration, and craft? Who did we miss? The ultimate goal is to create a fun and open space for discussion and reflection. Please do not share publicly, as we would like to keep the headcount to an appropriate level.

Best,

Sam Stone & J.F. Hallen
